Senior Vice President • UPMC and President, UPMC Community and Ambulatory Services
Dr. Amy Meister is Senior Vice President of UPMC and President of UPMC Community and Ambulatory Services division, where she leads efforts to expand and streamline access to primary care, outpatient specialty services, ambulatory, in-home services, and other non-hospital-based community services across UPMC’s footprint.
Dr. Meister was previously Chief Medical Officer for Weight Watchers where she was responsible for leading access to global medical services across the business with behavioral science, clinical solutions, and virtual and in-person experiences. Prior to that she was Associate Chief Medical Officer at UPMC Health Plan, where she developed innovative, comprehensive clinical and member support programs. In this role, she partnered closely with leadership in commercial, clinical, and population health teams to deliver care management and intervention strategies for Health Plan and Workpartners members.
Dr. Meister led the creation as CEO of Level2, a digital platform to manage care for UnitedHealth Group members with Type 2 diabetes. She constructed this business with data-enabled benefit design and quickly scaled it to become a large innovative care delivery team. Prior to this, Dr. Meister was with MedExpress as President of On-site Solutions, and was Vice President, Employer Health Services. She also previously served as Medical Director, UPMC Center for Hospital Medicine.
Dr. Meister completed the Marshall Webster Physician Leadership Program at the University of Pittsburgh Katz School of Business. She earned her doctorate at West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency at Johns Hopkins University. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Wheeling Jesuit University.
