Head of Clinical Informatics Verily

Erich Huang, MD, PhD, is the Head of Clinical Informatics at Verily. Dr. Huang was previously the Chief Data Officer for Quality at Duke Health, Director of Duke Forge, Director of Duke Crucible, and Assistant Dean for Biomedical Informatics for Duke University School of Medicine. There, he spearheaded and deployed machine learning capabilities for complex care management in Duke Health’s Accountable Care Organization, helped develop Duke Health’s new institutional governance process for algorithmic decision support, and helmed the creation of both the University’s COVID Core Data Repository supporting contact tracing and pooled testing, and the School of Medicine’s COVID Integrated Data Repository for COVID research studies. Dr. Huang served as Principal Investigator on a NIH-funded project under the Big Data to Knowledge (BD2K) RFAs, and also served as the original faculty lead for informatics on Verily’s Baseline Study. He earned his MD and PhD from Duke University.
