Regional Vice President Mayo Clinic Health System

Paul Mueller, MD, MPH, is the Regional Vice President for the Mayo Clinic Health System, Southwest Wisconsin. He is a Professor of Medicine and a Professor of Biomedical Ethics in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.

Dr. Mueller’s clinical practice encompasses outpatient primary care and consultative internal medicine. In 2012, he was recognized as a “Top Internist” by U.S. News and World Report.

During his career, Dr. Mueller has taught learners at all levels of medical education. He has been a mentor for many learners and colleagues. His research focus is biomedical ethics, especially ethical dilemmas associated with life-sustaining technologies. He has authored or co-authored more than 130 peer-reviewed publications and hundreds of book chapters, abstracts and columns.

Dr. Mueller is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the Hastings Center. His wife, Nancy, is an aerospace engineer. They have three grown children.
