Kevin Kip is Vice President of Clinical Analytics, Health Outcomes and Research, at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). His principal background and expertise are in epidemiological methods and biostatistics. Dr. Kip is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and is a previous tenured Distinguished Health Professor at the University of South Florida. He is a co-author on more than 230 peer-reviewed publications, and while in academia, had continuous external research funding for nearly 20 years. Dr. Kip was the leading researcher worldwide in the study of Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), a brief, emerging evidence-based treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and related comorbidities.
He previously served as chair of the Data Safety and Monitoring Board (DSMB) for the NIDDK-funded Look AHEAD (Action for Health in Diabetes) multicenter randomized clinical trial. In addition, Dr. Kip is a Special Government Employee (SGE) of the FDA Advisory Committee, Circulatory System Devices Panel, Center for Devices and Radiological Health. He was also a member of the Institute of Medicine (IOM) – Committee to Review the Health Effects in Vietnam Veterans of Exposure to Herbicides. In his current position at UPMC, Dr. Kip provides strategic guidance around existing and new approaches for the use of sophisticated analytics and business intelligence methods for the Health Services Division.
