Lori Frank, PhD
President • Women’s Health Access Matters (WHAM)
Lori Frank, PhD, is President of Women’s Health Access Matters (WHAM), a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing awareness and accelerating funding for women’s health research to transform women’s lives and the economy. Prior to joining WHAM, she was Senior Vice President for Research with the New York Academy of Medicine. Her research addresses inclusion of stakeholder perspectives in health care with a focus on women’s health, health disparities, and patient reported outcomes measurement. She serves on the Board of the Personalized Medicine Coalition and on the Memory Screening Advisory Board of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. She is Past President of the International Society for Quality of Life Research, a professional society devoted to patient-centered outcomes. She completed her Health and Aging Policy Fellowship at the National Institute on Aging, through the Congressional Fellowship Program, American Political Science Association.
Dr. Frank founded and led the Evaluation and Analysis Program at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), establishing a research program to study stakeholder engagement, along with survey research and portfolio analysis functions. She has also led a global scientific team as Executive Director, Center for Health Outcomes Research, MEDTAP International/United BioSource Corporation, responsible for scientific and financial performance of 70+ scientific staff worldwide. She founded and served as Principal Investigator of the Cognition Initiative with the Critical Path Institute Patient-Reported Outcome Consortium. She has held research and teaching positions with the RAND Corporation, the National Institute on Aging, the Georgetown University Department of Psychiatry, and Medimmune LLC/AstraZeneca.
She completed postdoctoral training in geriatric mental health services research with the VA Health Services Research & Development program. Her PhD is in human development and gerontology from the Pennsylvania State University and her MA is in biopsychology from Johns Hopkins University.
