Robert Edwards, MD

Dr. Edwards’ research interests include cervical and ovarian malignancies. He serves as principle investigator of the Gynecologic Oncology Group for the University of Pittsburgh and for a number of pharmaceutical-sponsored studies. He also serves on the Cancer Vaccine Committee, which experiments with novel therapeutic approaches to gynecologic malignancies and produces translational research.
His multiple publications, looking at both prophylactic and active immunotherapy, are directed at the human papillomaviruses and ovarian cancer targets. Dr. Edwards’ specialty of interest is in local regional immunotherapy, particularly at peritoneal infusion of chemotherapy and immunotherapy for ovarian cancer.
Dr. Edwards received his Bachelor of Arts from Gettysburg College, and his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Edwards is the former director of gynecologic oncology at the University of Louisville Health Sciences Center.
